Facility

We’re redefining what a hospital can be.

The redevelopment of Bridgepoint’s current site presents a unique, timely opportunity: design a hospital from the ground up specifically for patients with Complex Chronic Disease.

It represents much more than just a new building. Using landscape and architecture, the design expresses the new role that we must play in not just treating sickness, but in actively promoting wellness for people with Complex Chronic Disease.

We know that access to the community, connection with the environment, natural light, and the encouragement of movement are all proven factors in helping patients get well. These are the key principles at work in the design of the new Bridgepoint Hospital. This landmark site will:

  • support patients' dignity, control over their surroundings and return to independence
  • encourage and enable seamless care within Bridgepoint and integration with the community
  • use new concepts in medicine, architecture and design to inspire wellness
  • honour the heritage of the historic Don Jail, transforming it from a place of incarceration to a leading centre of innovation
  • represent a source of pride for Toronto, the Province of Ontario and Canada
Our state-of-the-art facility will include the home of our new Collaboratory for Innovation and Research, where the next generation of doctors, nurses, therapists and researchers will develop new understanding of how to treat and prevent Complex Chronic Disease.
